30-year-old Shane Edwin of Morne Fortune, Castries, has been confirmed as the final casualty of what had been a violent 2023, following a fatal stabbing on December 31st. According to reports, officers from the Criminal Investigations Department received word of the incident at 5 p.m. on Sunday. Upon arrival at the scene, police officials found emergency personnel attending to the victim. Edwin was then rushed to the Owen King European Union Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim’s death marked the 75th homicide for the year, tying a record set in 2021.
