As a component of the 2024 Independence celebrations, citizens both within the country and in the diaspora will participate in the customary baton relay. Cyril Saltibus, the co-coordinator of the relay, expressed that this occasion offers a chance for all Saint Lucians to demonstrate their national pride, emphasizing the theme “Douvan Ansamn: Building A Nation Through Unity, Resilience, and Creativity.” He urged all Saint Lucians, irrespective of their location, to actively participate and make a statement to the global audience watching.
“We’re excited this year about the relay baton” he said. “This year we’ve brought it to the diaspora. We’ve shipped the baton to Taiwan, Canada, Miami, Morroco, so on Monday’s when St. Lucians are at ease resting and Cabinet is in session, we will be seeing this baton in the diaspora making its rounds…When this baton is in your community making it rounds, come out!” he added.
