One individual out of the five who were apprehended in relation to a robbery at the Courts Chaussee Rd branch last year has been formally charged with the crime. On Thursday, January 18, 2024, Abyssin John voluntarily presented himself to the Criminal Investigations Department in Castries. He was subsequently arrested and charged with Handling Stolen Goods and Possession of a Firearm.
Abyssin John was taken to the First District Court in Castries, where bail was granted. The bail amount was set at Twenty-thousand dollars in cash or an appropriate surety or land documents for the Possession of Firearm charge, and three thousand dollars (XCD3000.00) in cash, an appropriate surety, or land documents for the Handling Stolen Goods charge.
The burglary took place on Thursday, November 9, 2023, around 4:00 am, when officers from the Criminal Investigations Department received the report. During the initial phase of the investigation, a total of five individuals were arrested and charged in connection to this incident.
