Both of St. Lucia’s star track athletes have qualified for their individual semi-finals, after stellar performances in the preliminary rounds.
Michael Joseph secured a spot in the men’s 400m semifinal at the World Athletics Championships with a time of 45.04 seconds, finishing 5th in Heat 1. The 21-year-old runner from Gros Islet will compete again on Tuesday, August 22nd, at 3:00 p.m. local time.
Meanwhile, Julien Alfred’s winning streak in the 100m continues, as her victory in Heat 1 maintains her unbeaten record in 2023 over that distance. The Ciceron native recorded the third-fastest qualifying time, only behind Richardson from the USA and Swoboda from Poland. The semifinals are scheduled for Monday starting at 2:35 p.m., followed by the finals at 3:50 p.m. Saint Lucian time.
