Several St. Lucian youths are set to be the beneficiaries of the Caribbean Development Bank’s Youth for Innovation and Resilience Program. The program which is also known as Youth Fire, seeks to empower youth to act as agents of change for sustainable development in their communities and the wider region.
This year, the program will be hosted in St. Lucia. At a grand launch on June 13th, young leaders from the CDBs nineteen Borrowing Member Countries, were present and eager to contribute to youth oriented-discussion. The program is slated to take place for the rest of the week.
Featured speaker for the launch was Barbadian business consultant and renowned motivational speaker, Mr. Raphael Saul. He admonished those in attendance to be courageous in pursuit of success, regardless if they may feel uncomfortable.
“Courage is a thing that empowers us, to lean into what appears difficult and outside our current realm of possibility and capacity,” said Saul. “It is courage that motivates us to drive through our challenges to keep moving forward, despite what can seem like insurmountable obstacles” he added.
The Youth Fire Program, will culminate with a youth expo in the Constitution Park on Friday. It is the hope of all stakeholders that event serves as launchpad for economic development in the region.
