Leader of the Opposition Allen Chastenet led a rapturous crowd of support upon his return to Parliament on Tuesday May 30. The MP for Micoud South had called for St. Lucians let their voices be heard, as a counter to what he termed “injustice” in all forms.
According to Chastenet, the march represents more than just a political stance against his detractors, but rather a rally for people who feel silenced.
“I am very proud that I have stood up and I will continue to stand up” Chastanet said. “But, as I’ve said in my video, I can’t do this alone. It can’t be just about Allen Chastanet. This has to be about others. Whether you are a Laborite, whether you are an independent, the rule of law is the rule of law and we all must be held accountable to it.”

This is Chastenet’s first appearance in the House since a court ruled that Parliament had no locus standi when they suspended him on May 2nd.
