The organizers of the 2023 Groovy and Power Soca Monarch Competitions, have come under some scrutiny over their management of event preparations. According to local soca artiste, Stephen “Esteban” Edmund, there is not enough information made available to artiste. Edmund believes that more could be done to keep artistes in the loop, therefore helping them make better informed decisions.
“My view is based on the email and the press release; it doesn’t state any terms and conditions as it pertains to being part of the competition.” Edmund stated. “Why wasn’t that sent? Are we going to wait until after persons have committed to this competition to then disclose to them what are the terms?” he questioned further.

Without such vital this important information, persons may find themselves in problems, when determining the merits of participating. According to the artiste, this happens every year and it must be remedied.
