The cricketing journey of the phenom from Millet reached another remarkable milestone as Johnson Charles became the all-time highest run-scorer in CPL history. The batsman amassed 2403 runs over 87 innings to claim the record. Despite St. Lucia Kings’ loss to the Tallawahs on Wednesday night, Charles’ achievement brought a sense of gratitude to the team. Charles has represented various franchises, including all three versions of Team St. Lucia, and has been a prominent figure in the league since its inception. He is renowned for his powerful batting style, consistently placing the ball into the grand stand named after him.

Head Coach Daren Sammy praised Charles’ reliability and noted that he still has a lot to offer. Sammy, who has led Charles in international and franchise cricket, expressed confidence in his abilities and anticipated his continued valuable contribution to the Kings in the ongoing competition. “Johnson has been very consistent” Sammy said. “Every year he comes in and puts runs on the board and again this year, we [are] counting on him and Faf [Duplessis] at the top of the innings to set up the game for us”
