St. Lucian cricketer Johnson Charles, gave a match-winning performance in the West Indies’ 78-run victory over the UAE in the 2nd ODI on Tuesday, June 6th. The 34-year-old, scored a quick-fire 64 runs off 47 deliveries, to help propel the Caribbean team to a competitive score of 306 in the first innings. This was part of a 129-run opening stand between him and Jamaican Brandon King. Charles’ exploits also secured him Player of the Match honors for the game.
Prior to this series, Charles had a 5-year hiatus from the ODI team. The game was only his second one-day outing since 2016. The Millet native will hope that his performance marks a significant return to form, before this year’s World Cup.
