Celebrations were in order for multiple reasons for St. Lucian track phenom, Julien Alfred on Saturday June 10th. The athlete, won the 100 meters, the 200 meters and ran the opening leg of a victorious 4×100 meter relay for the Texas Longhorns at the NCAA outdoor track and field championships. . This added to what was already an exceptional day for Alfred as it was her 22nd birthday.
Amongst those cheering on the Ciceron native was Leader of the Opposition, Allen Chastenet. On a post on his social media accounts, Chastenet heralded Ms. Alfred for an elite showing at the event.
“What an amazing Birthday gift! Congratulations to Julien on winning both the 100m and the 200m at the 2023 NCAA Track and Field Championships🇱🇨” the post read.

Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre also chimed in on Alfred’s amazing performance, adding, “You continue to make us proud and you have our support 🇱🇨”.

This event added to what has already been an exceptional year for Alfred as she gears up for the Olympic games in Paris 2024.
