St. Lucian sprint phenom, Julien Alfred has added another gold medal to her resume following a victory at the Women’s 100m at the Central American and Caribbean Games (CAC) in Panama. The NCAA champion, was widely considered the favorite coming into the games. She completed the race in 11.14 seconds, smashing the previous games record. Jamaica’s Yanique Dayle (11.39) and Cuba’s Yunisleidy Garcia (11.50) has to settle for second and third place respectively. This feat secured the island’s first ever track medal at the games. Alfred has no intention of slowing down, as she prepares for the World Championships in August.
