The exploits of the St. Lucia MET Office may have been responsible for the mitigation of injury during the passage of Tropical Storm Bret. Prior to the storm, the MET services had reported that the system, which made landfall Thursday, June 23rd, came with gusty winds, causing notable damage to infrastructure. According to the Director of MET Services, Andre Joyeux, the predictions of the service were “spot on”. While happy with the work done by the meteorologists, Joyeux noted that St. Lucians should remain vigilant as this hurricane season is expected to be active.

““It is a fact of life in the Caribbean. We have to live with the occurrence of tropical storms and hurricanes and persons should make that part of their lifestyle, where they are prepared when the hurricane season comes around” he said.”
