Dr. Ernest Hilaire, Minister for Culture, has officially confirmed that the Saint Lucia Jazz 2024 opening will remain at the iconic Mindoo Philip Park, dismissing rumours of a venue change to accommodate preparations for the World T20. Previously, Dr. Hilaire had mentioned ongoing consultations with stakeholders to evaluate the event’s feasibility. The idea of relocating the venue raised concerns among social media users, who expressed worries about potential negative economic effects. However, during Monday’s pre-cabinet press briefing, the Culture Minister assured that the event would stick to its traditional opening location.

“I want to make it very clear that the opening of Jazz will be at Mindoo Phillip Park,” Hilaire said. “The last time that we spoke, I indicated that we had not yet decided where it would be, and that we were in discussions with regards to the venue being upgraded and prepared for the ICC World Cup. I wanted to make sure it would be available, both in terms of the work being finished and ensuring that the handover is within the contractual period,” he added.
