Director for the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), Maria Medard, has called for the public to prepare for hurricane season. According to Medard, persons should live in state of readiness, regardless if a tropical wave was imminent or not. She added, that while NEMO encourages preparedness all year round, it is important to take extra heed during this time.
“As we know, preparedness for those kinds of events, you have to look at trimming your trees, cleaning your guttering, ensuring that you neighborhood drains are cleared.” Medard noted.
The director also placed an emphasis on the need for members of the various communities to work together. In disaster prone areas, multiple efforts are often required to mitigate damage.

“We don’t just want you to look at the drains in front of your yard. Help your neighbor”, she added.
The public is reminded to do all that is necessary safeguard assets during this turbulent time.
