The old Victoria Hospital Complex is set to be repurposed, following an announcement made by the government officials on Monday, June 5th. At a press conference, stakeholders met to brief the public on the merits of this change. According to Minster for Health, Hon. Moses Jn Baptiste, the facility will now provide centralized clinical services, under the name the Castries Multi-Purpose Medical Facility.
The government of St. Lucia as part of the health sector review and reform process has recognized the need to repurpose the respiratory hospital, particularly in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic” Jn Baptiste said. “The respiratory hospital will be a multi-purpose medical facility, comprising primary health care, urgent health care and secondary health care facility” he added.

As part of its new role, the complex will also house the operations of the current Castries Wellness Center. These services will fall under the new name, Castries Urban Polyclinic. Officials believe that this will provide a better home for the aged center.
