The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will on July 4, 2023, celebrate the Fiftieth Anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Chaguaramas which established the Community, under the theme ‘50 Years Strong: A Solid Foundation to Build On’. In light of this milestone, CARICOM Day 2023 will be celebrated in a grand way, with the hosting of a number of activities throughout the Region. In Saint Lucia, activities include an Ecumenical Service and an IAMCARICOM Walk through the Castries City Centre. The activities are geared towards raising awareness of the achievements and role of CARICOM and its institutions, and their impact on the lives of people in the Region.

The Ecumenical Service will seek to engage the public, government ministries, uniformed clubs, and schools to attend and participate, and will be held at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at 9:30 a.m.  The IAMCARICOM Walk will immediately follow the Service, from 11:30 a.m. to midday.

The Government of Saint Lucia hereby invites the public to attend CARICOM’s Fiftieth Anniversary Ecumenical Service. The Office further encourages all to dress in the CARICOM flag colours of light blue, dark blue, green, yellow, and black and post their photos on social media using the hashtag #CARICOMDaySLU2023. July 4, 2023 will not be observed as a holiday in Saint Lucia.
