The excitement for the upcoming World T20 in the West Indies is heating up! On Friday, January 5th, an official list of fixtures for the competition was revealed. Among the surprising fixtures was Saint Lucia’s hosting of the West Indies Men’s Team on June 17th for an encounter against Afghanistan. Additional games scheduled to be played at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground are Australia vs Scotland on June 15th and Sri Lanka vs the Netherlands on June 16th. The island is also set to host games in the second phase of the competition, alongside Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, as venues for the Super Eight fixtures.

Commenting on the significance of the final release of the fixture, CWI Chief Executive Johnny Grave noted that the announcement foreshadows the excitement to come. “The announcement of the match schedule for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 marks a significant milestone in our preparations for this year’s tournament. We know that teams, fans, and cricket enthusiasts worldwide have been eagerly awaiting this announcement, and now that it is available, it provides a roadmap for the thrilling journey that lies ahead,” he said.

With the fixture list now available, local sporting officials can continue to intensify preparations for the tournament.
