On the second anniversary of their victory at the polls, the St. Lucia Labour Party is celebrating accomplishments achieved over during their tenure in office thus far. Since the 15 – 2, landslide victory, the party has started several initiatives, which are largely based on their 2021 manifesto.
As part of the celebratory proceedings, Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre hosted members of the media in a special press conference to field any questions they had concerning his tenure as Commander in Chief. Before said briefing, the PM thanked St. Lucians for the trust they had put in the government thus far.
“For placing their confidence and trust in the men and women of the Labour Party and me as their leader, I say an immense thank you” Pierre said. “We are humbled by that historic vote and in that tremendous mandate, we afford the strength to honour our campaign to put you the people first”
The Prime Minister went on to list several accomplishments, his administration achieved over the past few years. Despite accusations leveled by the Opposition, which allege that the government has done little to improve the economy over the period, Pierre touted the VAT exemptions, Tax amnesties and expansions to social safety net programs put in place.
It is the hope of the SLP that the populace sees the work they have accomplished during their tenure as leaders of the country, as worthy of their confidence going forward.
