Young St. Lucian cricketers will be the beneficiaries of the inaugural, Under-19s Schools T20 X-plosion hosted by the St. Lucia Kings CPL Franchise. In collaboration with Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, the tournament will feature some of the island’s most talented young athletes from the secondary school level.

With games scheduled to take place at the iconic Mindoo Philip Park, competition will provide an opportunity for players to develop their skillsets in a professional environment. Eight teams will be pooled together, with one team representing each of the educational districts. These participants will be selected via draft from a list of players provided by PE teachers and coaches.

Minister for Youth Development and Sports, Honorable Kenson Casimir expressed elation when considering the impact, the competition could potential have on the advancement of cricket in St. Lucia.

“I am very elated that Saint Lucia will be the first Caribbean Island to host this competition. I think it will auger well for the development of the sport. The Ministry continues to provide support through coaching and equipment to our schools. So, I am looking forward to a very exciting tournament right here in Saint Lucia.” Casimir said.
Organizers believe that the tournament will serve as a springboard to take cricket on island to the next level.
