“Saint Lucia has been placed under a hurricane watch as of midnight Wednesday.

At 5 AM on Thursday, June 22, 2023, Tropical Storm Bret was positioned near 13.7 degrees North latitude and 56.6 degrees West longitude, approximately 260 miles or 419 kilometers east of Saint Lucia.

The storm is moving westward at a speed of 16 mph (26 km/h), and it is expected to maintain this trajectory while accelerating over the next few days.

Later today and tonight, Bret is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rains to portions of the Leeward Islands.

A Hurricane Watch has been issued for Saint Lucia, indicating that hurricane conditions are possible within the next 24 hours.

Additionally, a Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Saint Lucia, indicating that tropical storm conditions are expected within the warning area in the next 24 hours.

Bret is forecasted to approach the Lesser Antilles today, cross the Lesser Antilles tonight, and move over the eastern Caribbean Sea on Friday.

Residents in the affected areas should monitor the progress of this storm and take appropriate precautions to ensure their safety.
Ensure that you have activated your family emergency plans. Residents who live in flood prone areas and areas prone to landslides are to be vigilant.”
