St. Lucian Soca Artiste J’Versatile was crowned king at 2023 British Virgin Islands Soca Monarch Competition on August 5th. His rendition of his song Boo Thang swayed the crowd at the Irene Penn O’Neal Festiville, in Tortola and won him the crown. The artiste dethroned two-time champion Ramon G, en route to coronation.

The feat follows a first-runner up placing by the St. Lucian last year. Determined not to give up on his craft, J’Versatile noted that he had to pull out all the stocks to claim this year’s crown.

“We had to come stronger. Those guys come out with some good content. All we had to do was do our best and we put God first and just paddled through.” he said.
