To say that Police Inspector Shervon Matthieu goes above and beyond the call of duty, would be to sell the true impact that he has on the communities he serves short. The veteran officer, who is in charge of the Criminal Investigations Department at the Royal St. Lucia Police Force, was recently recognized at the Association of the Caribbean Commissioners (ACCP) and the Algamated Security Services Limited (ASSL) Awards programme in Trinidad, as the Top Caribbean Crime Fighter.
As part of his winnings, Matthieu was awarded US $5000 to use as he pleased. Instead of simply pocketing the well-deserved cash, the inspector decided to donate his prize earnings to three institutions that are close to his heart. These organizations were as follows:
• The Marian Home, at Leslie Land, Castries which provides care and shelter for the elderly
• The Children’s Home in Ciceron, which supports orphans and vulnerable children and
• The Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School, which also happens to be his alma mater.
The recipients were elated at Inspector Mathieu’s kind gestures and are expected to put their individual cheques to good use.
The management and staff of Hot FM communications wishes to commend the inspector for his continued service, par excellence.
