An uninspiring showing by the West Indies Cricket team at the 2023 World Cup Qualifiers, limped to a conclusion on Saturday July 1st. For the first time in their history, the team will not be a fixture in the ODI World Cup following a defeat to Scotland by seven wickets. The loss now means that the team can no longer, mathematically qualify for the competition, which they have been a part of since its inception in 1975. During the match, the Men in Maroon only amased 181 runs during their innings, failing to present a challenge for their opponents. This loss was the Caribbean side’s third consecutive defeat to lower ranked opposition over the last week. The team still has two other games to play, but they will merely serve as formality, and bring the curtains down to a disappointing campaign.
