Thirty-nine (39) young entrepreneurs were presented with an injection of funds to bolster their businesses on Tuesday July 25th. At ceremony held at the Bay Garden’s Inn in Rodney Bay, the business owners became the beneficiaries of approximately two hundred thousand dollars in grants, compliments the Youth Economy Agency. While the entrepreneurs are not required to return the funds to the agency, measures have been put in place to ensure that they are utilized for business development.
Communications Officer for the YEA, Terry Finistere, noted that the group represented the largest number of grant recipients in one sitting. He noted that while the process to analyze applications can be difficult, the program has been a remarkable success thus far.
“[The process] is very painstaking, but we are very happy that we have reached where we are in our journey, with close to two hundred recipients for funding from the youth economy agency, with over seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars being disbursed” Finistere said.
It is the intention of the YEA to continue to provide mechanisms for young people to thrive in the business world.
